Cockburn’s Late Bottled Vintage 2009 port is made up of grapes from a single harvest and is aged in oak casks for up to 6 years before being bottled.
Cockburn’s LBV is an intense port with a strong character. On the eye, it is a deep blood red with an aroma of mulberry, summer fresh fruits, mainly red berries and chocolate. On the palate it feels full bodied with some complexity from when it was aging in wood creating a very intense sensation. It is extremely balance with a lingering enjoyable finish.
This port would go well with strong cheese, most notably blue cheese or one similar. It would also complement many nuts, in particular Brazil nuts and dark chocolate dishes, but not necessarily desserts. Serve at cool room temperature or if preferred very slightly chilled.
